Saskia Olde Wolbers video still http://maureenpaley.com/artists/wolbers-saskia-olde
I found her name by coinsidence yesterday, I am so happy. Ever since I saw Wolbes' work at Tate Modern in 2002, it stayed in my mind for a long time till now, and I never wrote down the name, so I didn't expect to find it. Yesterday, a friend was looking at it as a reference for Modern Art, and told me that it is not CG but all real material used and shot often underwater, I was even more happy. It was like looking at your own body cells for ages, but in a slightly dreamy way, and made me feel very warm and happy. Reminds me a little bit of Pippilotti Rist's work in the way that it feel very warm and humorous. I can't believed I missed Wolbers solo show at Maureen Paley in 2011... When was that on??

Inspiring Images 07
Roi Vaara http://www.poeticmind.co.uk/interviews-1/the-image-of-ourselves/
This was the first time I saw performance art in my life. I didn't go for the hand shake because I didn't want any white paint on my hand, but it was really inspiring to see people walking around with a white hand and paint on their clothes at the opening at Hayward.

Cullinan Richards http://www.cullinanrichards.com/
I saw their work at British Art 7, at Hayward Gallery, was my favorite at that show, I almost thought for a second, 'could this be... it can't be...' the middle of preparing.. The plastic sheet hanging from the ceiling was the most beautiful thing in the show, kept looking at it from different angles over and over.
Nathaniel Mellors http://www.mattsgallery.org/artists/mellors/exhibition-1.php
Saw at the same show as above, this head kept choking out plaster every so often, but that day the tubes got clogged for some unexpected reasons, so he could not choke properly which made the work even better.

Tomoko Yoneda http://www.tomokoyoneda.com/
Yoneda talks about how she manages to bring the events that happen in front of her to actually happen because of her interest in it, inspires me. So many things are happening all the time, and our anthena just has to focus on it, I guess. I specially like this image. It stops the time, but never sufforcating.
Pablo Wendel http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/4ns/studentDetails/Pablo+Wendel/90569
Wendal's Terracota video is really funny, but more than funny. I like how he pushed the work beyond a student work, in a way that he actually just goes for it, although we do not know from the video if it was a set up or not. Enjoyed it a lot.
Tatsumi Orimoto http://www.assemblylanguage.com/reviews/orimoto.html
I am not sure why, but I did not like his work at all when I saw it first, but I quite like it now. It is very strong, and seems to work in different ways, when shown in different places. I liked it when I saw it in Brighton, on a billboard by the road, really big.
Justine Kurland http://www.cepagallery.org/exhibitions/kurland/index.html
Not at all my favorites, but have been looking at Kurland's images for compositions, and texture. I specially like this image.

Hannah Starkey http://maureenpaley.com/artists/hannah-starkey
The way Starkey manages to create these images that look like they are going to start moving if you pressed a button, fascinates me. It makes me keep looking at the images, and specially the co-existence of the moving and the still is a point that interests me, reminds me of the chapter, The long exposure and the snap shot, in Photography in Theory.

Erwin Wurm http://www.erwinwurm.at/
Some images are more funny than others, the point where the humor starts to become more than humor interests me. Specially the one with the soup dripping from the woman's mouth is somehow haunting, and that brings me to the next level of imagination, which gives me joy.
